Matty G and DJG are both phenomenal behind the decks. Watching Matty's all vinyl sets is truly a sight to behold. You can always bet that he will pull for some absolute classics. Last time I remember him pulling up Officer, The Legacy, Gangsta 4 Lyfe, Rufage, Hovercraft, and 50k watts. And his mixing is always flawless. Perfect cuts and blends. Mensah is also something else to watch. Nuff blends and double drops, and huggggge selection. As far as the 'harder' stuff goes, I would have to give it up for Shiverz. Man can mix and dance like nobodies business. HENCH! Youngsta still #1 though..

DJing is an art form just like producing. I don't understand why more people don't take it seriously. I spend a good 2-3 hours a day behind the decks, on top of the hours I put in writing tunes, and I wish others would do the same. You gotta build a set, and take your listeners on a journey. It's not at all about playing the biggest bangers one after another, or just dropping unreleased dubplates. I like to set a mood and expand from there. I will premeditate my mixes, but hardly ever stick exactly to them, because you have to be able to read the crowds reaction and adjust accordingly.

Some other badman DJs off the top of my head: Ruckspin, Beezy, Pinch, Mala, Jack Sparrow, N-type!! (duh), Distal, Ramadanman, L-vis 1990, DJ Crises (the vibez!), RSD!, Matt U, Icicle, Dieselboy (force to be reckoned with, manages to play tunes I hate throughout a set but mixes so well I could hardly give 2 fucks enough to stop dancing for a second)

Shy FX, without a doubt best set i've ever seen. Sooooooo much room to mash about when he dropped the real big ones, every tune was fucking huge and bare genres got played, mainly jungle.

Rewinds piss me off bad, Toddla T at Bloc was a fucking joker with rewinds, he's put on a good tune, rewind it before a drop and put on one of his shitty tunes. Had no idea what the crowd was like. Nothing worse than a dj with a pre planned set that doesn't change when the crowd don't want it

I'm beginning to think that a majority of dubstep listeners pay attention to maybe about 5 DJ's...sad
Not like it's a new thing mate...
No arguments there, but it's 2011, dubstep's been around for several years now. You'd think there might be a few more DJ's to get some credit that weren't around in 2006, it's not like being around that long is a prerequisite to being a good dubstep dj(I'm sure plenty will disagree with that, but I stand by this, it doesn't take that many years to fine tune technical skills and immerse oneself in a musical culture to become a good selector).
I agree with you.
