Because he's a hipster pretentious elitist.

but seriously though he dosnt deserve the hate he's given

Why didn't you say that you've never listened to a skrillex tune all the way through? You sound like your very thorough.nowaysj wrote:Siderealdb wrote:Why though? My dislike for him isn't motivated. I don't like and dislike things for a purpose, to achieve an end. Does that make sense to you?
I'd also like to point out that you're the one introducing the concept of hatred. Think that speaks more about you than anything else. Hatred is a simple concept. It is reductive. A human is capable of far more nuanced emotions and thoughts than simple hatred. Or at least they were...
Honestly, I've never listened to a skrillex song all the way through. I heard a certain class of people talking about him and knew pretty much what to expect. Someone posted a link, I listened to half the song and had heard enough to evaluate to my satisfaction what is going on with skrillex. Think it is a cynical profit motivated attempt to exploit the dubstep brand. It is produced well enough to be widely consumed. I don't know if that is him, or treatment that the music receives after it leaves his hands.

I feel people dislike him because he's become immensely successful in a short period of time. Also, he hasn't just "jumped on" the dubstep bandwagon. He produces deep house, electro.etc. as well. His first release was an independent one. Love him or hate him, his production skills are top notch. He's also a very good singer.Basic A wrote:This belongs in general discussion, its in no way production related...
Skrillex is a former Emo/Screamo vocalist who jumped on the dubstep bandwagon about 6 months ago. Most of the people on this forum will claim to have a problem with his production quality, but not me, Ill outright admit I just think he's a tnuc personality wise, never heard his tunes that I know of... Most of the people on this forum who tear into him are really just upset because he is milking his past fame, he still uses his old stage name and you can get away from the plugs for his old band... Think if he'd have dropped his past clout and started afresh people might not dislike him so much. He's on deadmaus's label maustrap. They sell Skrillex tshirts in American pop music stores.
Fucking kudos to you, sir.Espy wrote:Those that can do, do.
Those who can't, sit on DSF bashing those who can.
Make energetic music like Skrillex, be called crap, hipster and a no-talent.
Play C5 sub bass note for 5 minutes, add 1 shaker loop, be called deep and inspirational.
The sooner you learn these rules, the sooner life on DSF becomes easier.
