I suppose I'm not considering it in a dubstep context but they are a massive retailer with a massive dubstep and electronica / dance archive so there has to be the market for it. I also think that people who want tracks for home listening are still going to work within the same ethical framework irrespective of the actual bitrate especially given that the home listening market is going to be significantly bigger than the DJ market.

As for whether 320mp3 or 256aac I'm pretty sure there have been discussions on here from people who know who've argued that the algorithm used to encode AAC is superior.

I'm not defending the decision to release only on iTunes as I think retailer exclusives suck generally but am not sure that the arguments cited are that valid.

It's all part and parcel of a combination of Dubstep being thrust into the limelight along with the increase in piracy.
It's very "quick" for labels to supply their release to iTunes nowadays, so when majors are supplying the radio with their upcoming release they'll also supply it to iTunes as a (modern) way of promo-ing the release and allowing (generally non-file sharing) iTunes customers to buy the track after hearing it on the radio.
I agree it's not ideal for the audiophiles and the DJ's but when you look at it from the record label's point of view it makes sense in the current climate.

I bought the remix (with Blacks & Newham Generals) from 7digital. Am sure they have the original version too.

7digital and Boomkat are my favourites - if I'm grabbing an EP / 12" then I usually just go with whichever of the two is cheapest. Occasionally use Junodownload as well which is also excellent.

Beatport's prices are extortionate and I imagine if it wasn't for geographical restrictions on some tracks that nobody would use them.

I use boomkat pretty much exclusively and made the mistake some time ago of using beatport for "20 fucking years of Planet E" the Carl Craig labels compilation. Beatport wanted €1 per track for wav's which is extortionate especially when considering when it was finally released on boomkat the flac would have cost less than I paid for the 320's on beatport

You should try using a proxy thats in the UK.

The stores which have the album are proxy proof because you need a credit card from the UK.

are you talking only digital releases? cause i live in canada and order my vinyls no problem lol

Mate, please read what i wrote once more and check what 100% pure dubstep is. Wouldn't make any kind of sense with vinyls would it now?

100% Pure Dubstep is a mix/bunch of great tunes released digitally. It's not gonna be released on vinyl, and why would vinyls have any kind of geographical restrictions?

ah right fair enough it's released on CD as well is there a difference as to why vinyl would have some kind of geographical restriction and cd's not?

Vinyls and CD's can't really have restrictions... unless the stores won't ship out of the UK, but i haven't found one of those yet. And the reason why i won't buy the CD is that i'm pretty sure, it's mixed? Prove me wrong.

Have you tried Amazon downloads section? It's on there but don't know if there are geographical restrictions...

Really? Just compared the two. For example, Juno has the new Silkie EP for $5.21 compared to $7.21 on DT... unless I'm missing something??

amazon doesnt do 320 so if you want to dj with them or just generally listen in high quality i'd look elsewhere
talking of which why can't itunes/amazon just do 320s and let you choose the bit rate?? its annoying when labels only put tunes up on places like itunes but i find it even more frustrating that these stores dont offer different bitrates and file formats
