off of dubstep allstars 1, 134 bpm
we went from disco to house to jungle to garage to dubstep and now we're just everywhere.... a better question would be, who only listens/mixes/dances to only one type of music? i'm glad the walls are starting to come down

sounds draw inspiration from the past to progress. a blending of old musical ideas with new sounds is what im seeing .
but it's a good thing that there's a sesne of experimentation going on now, cos in turn , new things will be born out of that.
everything's branching off before people have time to give it a crap genre name too.

People like Martyn and Joy Orbison were sort of doing this from the start ( I think, might get shat on by music heads, not insulting just saying)
never really got into the whole UK Funky and house thing.

It's another 'death of dubstep' thread.
Dubstep does seem like yesterday's news atm. I blame the wobble.

This exactly where I'm at with it and also as others have mentioned dubstep coming from Grime and UKG and obviously electronic Dub always had it's 4/4 rhythms. Just really buzzing off where dance musics at at the mo, some real variation out there at the mo with different styles within styles gettin out there and movin the dancefloors, I think it's a real exciting time

I think it's cause dubstep is the first real internet-based music genre.. yeah, you can say it had it's roots in Croydon/London or whatever, but the 'scene' quickly became highly dependant on the internet for growth.. with that, you're gonna get people from all over the world from different music backgrounds putting their ideas in, which is why I think the sound has changed dramatically in a short space of time

errr?
the reason for the name UKG was that it took garage (from the US) and UK-fied it into something pretty different.... aka UKG
