Because you dont need oil as much as the rest of us, right?
actually, i dont, personally
also, people use oil because there is no better alternative, which is pretty inexcusable.
For you to be on your computer talking to me on the internet, a century of oil consumption had to happen. You're in it just like the rest of us.

but to say i need it would be incorrect. everything i need to survive is available to me without using any oil. anything on top of that is a luxury that i'm not especially proud of. that's why i've designed all my farmland purchases/design around trying to reverse trends that i don't agree with. i dont just sit around complaining, i promise.
anyway, i was just saying that the thirst for oil is greater than the thirst for science, which i don't like. wasn't trying to be snarky. well... only kinda snarky.

yes! apart from the fact that with current technology it would take 100 billion years to produce a gram of antihydrogen...
have you been reading michio kaku's physics of the impossible?

Read it last year, but yeah pretty good read that was, might actually reread it now

if life is comfirmed to be living their either currently or in the past, then it will. LOADS. And yeh, we'd be there in a jiffy. I wish this were true.

20 light years is incredibly close for another solar system, when you consider in the grand scheme of things A HELL of alot more are further than that.
If we could travel at or near the speed of light, we could reach that solar system without having to artifically suspend or prolong the astronaughts life. Thats pretty close.

remember if you're travelling at light speed or faster, you don't age as quickly either.
that's what i hear anyway.
still... 20 or so years to get there. LONG

Yeah but we've sent craft on 30 and 50 year missions before, so it can be done. Also, with an artificial coma or coma cycle this could even be easy on the astronauts O.o

some form of stasis can be achieved through use of Sodium Hydroxide and a massive reduction in the Oxygen level...
metabolism slows to almost inactive

But we're still exposed to huge doses of radiation over that time.
Traveling 20 light years is a pretty serious chore, with our current technology. But what is happening at the LHC may change that. Fuck me, but it all really seems to be coming together. Everybody with kids needs to be establishing in their minds that travel to these new planets is both possible and necessary.
