ironic considering your view point in this thread..?
Life is ironic and we are all hypocrites, I'm comfortable with that.

I kinda agree and don't agree with this.... Tbh for some people the internet is the only place where they have the confidence to meet friends. Not everyone is confident and outspoken. Facebook is and things can be the inbetween before proper social interaction. A lot of my good friends, who I spend a lot of time with now, I met on facebook. I hardly even conversate on the phone or facebook them because I see them so much.

Are you sure you and your mates will talk much even without technology? Everyone gets to that point sooner or later where they run out of shit to chat with each other constantly. Then something interesting happens along, and you start chatting away like you used to. Can't make technology a convenient scapegoat for everything.
Idiots who do nothing but text when they're supposed to be out with you for a meal or a drink, on the other hand, deserve to be slapped by a 10 day old tuna.

Shit yeah!
It just meant it was more hassle to get in contact- having to call parents house phones, have change for call boxes and a list of numbers in your pocket if you wanna call people when you're out. People didn't meet up any more or less than they do now, just it was a bit more hassle and needed more arranging to do it.

love technology, but sitting around a campfire chatting or building something with someone really brings you closer together, way more than a funny post on someone's facebook wall.
i will say that the people i know who do everything naturally as a way of life (farming for their food, compost toilets, building/repairing) are some of the happiest, healthiest and friendliest people i know (for the most part)

You wouldn't care after a while if you had no access to technology, moods/emotions etc stabilise over time. It's like when people become disabled, initially they might feel sad, rejected etc but after a while they tend to return to pre-disability levels of happiness. Same with winning the lottery, it wears off aftera while.
Think of all those tribal people running round forests, deserts, savannahs etc they're just as happy as you are, if not more because they have a more close-knit social community and so have probably higher levels of social support and stronger friendships etc. Humans are more affected by social interaction than material possessions, same with monkeys... you can't do this experiment with humans but rhesus monkey babies will always choose a 'mother' (wire puppet) that's covered in fur-like material that's comfy over another 'mother' that's just bare wire but has a bottle with a teat that milk can be drawn from - it doesn't feel natural to cling to wire even if they get milk from it. Think about what you'd rather have in life: parents that give you stuff to live but are nasty to you or parents that give you fuck all (because they can't) but are nice to you?

yeah i get what you're saying but its not just about me! i feel like i have a pretty healthy social life but more people in general are spending more time with "social technology" rather than actually doing stuff in real life, if that makes sense..
like the stuff testrecordings said above about people living without technology are happy.
id love to live in a neighbourhood where everyone knows everyone but it seems like with my generation that just doesnt happen anymore, nobodys socialising
i dunno, just rambling thoughts

It will get to a point where, people only tweet about themselves tweeting, and people only post facebooks pics of themselves on a laptop, looking at facebook pics. ∞

yeh its defo true to an extent
i grew up in a place where we knew all our neighbours, everyone on the streets around us, and it was standard to just go n knock on for your mates at their houses instead of callin
i remember doin that with some mates even recently and they were shocked cos they never had that
