its not just "dance music" - its proper "head" music as well..
yeah thats right..
and i like the fact that the producers focus on ideas and sound, not only trying to get the fattest possible mix on boring standard patterns..
of course a good mix is important and dubstep is a sound that's definetely not easy to mix because all the sub-bass business, but it's not a fetish like in some other genres.

for me its all about those gritty basslines, the darkness and the drums... as soon as i heard dubstep i was thinking shit this is it... even before i ehard of it i was producing some weird stuff which sounded almost similar but when dubstep came along, i dont know, it was almost meant to be! other people got together to make my sound! crazy :o

INNIT! no longer are we looking to the Americans for our music.

i love all sounds of dubstep from the minimal n deep shit to straight up dance floor destroyers!!! got into the sound when it was in its more UKG/steppy stage. to be honest i do prefer that time cause thats when i feel it was at its purest form...but still loving it now. i listen 2 it n it jus triggers something off in my brain like no other music has done before.

its got me into music, like properly into music- before I'd listen to stuff and enjoy it and all that but I'm just feeling the whole vibe now. It's made me wanna start making tunes too.

The UK hasn't had to look anywhere else for dance music for a long time.. London's been spewing scenes forever.

It can nice it can be narrrsteee, dark, light, bouncy, rollin, usually HEAVY, can be fast occasionally, deepness...and loads of other things.

the first thing it means to me is a new beginning - i found dubstep just as i was starting to grow tired of drum n bass...other than that, i really love the emphasis on BASS and it's fun making it...SLOW AND LOW, THAT IS THE TEMPO! 8)

i agree 100% i lost my way with d&b in early 2000 & got into breakcore (bong-ra, enduser) but when i heard goatstare i was blown away as that was the music i heard in my head as the perfect style of music. like someone else said i was making "halfstep" beats before it got a nametag.
