I'm sorry but I call bullshit on that Cubase and FL thing. I hopped between Cubase, FL and Ableton for a while when I was trying to find out which one suited my work flow better and could hear absolutely no difference at all. You may of had your drivers/audio settings configured wrong but FL is a solid DAW. Spor doesn't seem to have much of a problem with it either...

I settled on a FL Reason rewire but it was very hard to choose between FL and Ableton. It wasn't about sound quality it was about work flow...

OP don't discount any DAW until you've tried it!

if you haven't played an instrument before, and are completely new in the musical world it is going to take you a long time to get anything decent sounding. at least a good 1 or 2 years and you will be making decent songs and 3 to 4 years you will be good I suppose if you put a lot of time into it like I did

Dude you cant put a time frame on how long it will take him to start pumping out some good tunes, i know people that have taken months, and people that have taken years. It all depends on how committed you are to producing, and how much time you put into it.

obviously. if he would put a good 2 hours a day a year is a good amount of time. i am saying I have only been producing for a few months and already know a lot of synthesis, mixing, and just overall production. but he doesn't know how to play an instrument so it will be difficult for a good half a year a whole year at least. wasn't trying to set a definite time on how long it will take him since i don't know of his capabilities or how much effort he is willing to put into this but that was just my guess on how long it will take for someone at his level. if it really bothers you I will edit my post just calm down there take some pills, you are new here as well. I recommend some dayquil or nyquil for the little ones like yourself but if you want to get something stronger you can try something from the opium family like hydrocodone or codeine or oxy cotton. that will loosen you up since I noticed you have some anger issues as well that will help indeed.

Start by learning in and outs of the program you're using.

I used to learn piano and guitar but I have forgotten most music theory :/
