You misunderstand me - all of my tunes these days are in phrygian, I love the scale, just noticed a few threads over the last couple months were nowaysj had been biggin it up

Lydian's where it's at.
Since we're kind of talking about chord substitutions, I like subbing a Maj6 on the flat II. Basically tritone substitution but using a 6 chord for a bit less dissonance than a dominant. Works in Major and minor! Good pivot chord for key/tonality changes.
