I have never listened to Odd Future so I couldn't tell you my thoughts!
But I do agree with the hype!
About a year ago I mentioned the genre "dubstep" to a couple friends and asked if they ever heard of it...
They all replied the same way.."What's dubstep?"
Now those same people are all over it, "OMG I LOVE DUBSTEP!"
I even asked one of them "So who's your favorite producer?" Her: "hummmm...I don't know who they are, I just listen to whatever skins plays." :u:
Me and my older sister have the same thing going on. She often confuses dubstep with drum&bass too

I think this is a good idea, if it doesnt have the dsf name but has dsf artists on it. You'd just need someone to get the ball rolling really im sure you would get a lot of tracks submitted for voting once it's up and running. You would just have to ask for mod or get a mod to sticky it up or something so you could have a poll running every time your due for a release.

+1 for the sticky idea, that would be perfect.

We just need to find someone that would be up for the responsibility. I would if i knew that i would be able to be active all the time but i can't promise that. Probably would need 2 ppl running it for reliability's sake.

Bitches love Reso.

Well i'm glad there are at least some people showing interest in the idea... I already have a digi label selling music on all the usual online retailers so i think it would be fairly easy to get another on there through the same distributor. Now i know having releases on Beatport isn't the be-all and end-all for artists, as some ppl are saying, and maybe i put too much focus on that in the original post, but what i'm getting at is that there are strength in numbers and there are a lot of people on here who are involved in all sorts of different aspects of the scene and if we get enough people on board i think we could create something with a fair bit of clout behind it, something we can all be proud of. And like people mentioned earlier, it will give new producers inspiration and something to work for, and the more experienced guys a chance to show what they can do. I like all the ideas about stickies and stuff, we could have different rounds a bit like the demo panel idea, except with release slots up for grabs. It would be good if we could get a mod or two on board but no-one has piped up in favour yet......?

I think they already said that you should start your own collective, pull together as artists, be comrades in creativity and ect, but that it would have to be independent, and not affiliated with DSF...

Its a great idea to network together and start independent labels, collectives, sound-units, ect., and if you look around, there are alot of labels that have sprang up out of the forums here, and even more supporting the artists... But, this has come up before and the answer has always been that you should do it independently...

I wouldnt count on a sticky or anything...

I'm also going to talk with Eric more on this. Toric is a production company, so we want to do as much as we can in the entertainment and media industry. We have some resources and people we can pull in as well if need be.

Let me know what's up ASAP!

Okay I'm thinking I'm going to get my own label going and start putting up these threads/polls. Gna have to get things set up with the respective sites like beatport etc and probably get a website going then.. But yeah would just have to get onto a dsf mod to see if all this is good with them. Obviously toric would be able to do this alot quicker but if you guys have some patience il see what I can do. Btw can't see what I'm writing here cos my phone is fucked.

Started setting up some stuff under the name Deadly Efekt, everythign at the moment is subject to change but yeah will be looking into it a bit more during this coming week. Wanted to get a site up and running that dsf'ers can vote on a poll, hence removing the need for a sticky poll here.

this is a great idea. like others have said this will give some people that deserve the spotlight to get as well as having us new guys something to strive for on here. I've finally been releasing some quality tunes so I've been looking for releasing them on a label and such. I'm working with a buddy on a 2-part house-ish/darkwave EP that I would be more than happy to send your way for a release.
