I agree to an extent.
Ive just returned from Wakestock where the only Dubstep on offer was Nero, Caspa and Modestep really. All 3 produced crowds of wierd kids whizzed, mkat'd up. All buzzin ridiculously with eyes like owls and at all three about 7 mosh pits were formed or really charging circles. It was horrific. I blame the drugs a bit but also i blame the age of the crowd and who was in it. It's fair to say there was a lot of chavs and scroats in there all tops off and that.. Eww.
On the other hand I went to DMZ in Leeds (the most recent one). At first it was all people drinking beers, few spliffs outside and then the crowd became bigger and by about 1am I would say about 70% were twisted to fuck. Ketty monsters, jaw swingers and all that... However the night was top. I had no problems and no pits were formed and everyone just skanked.
Whats the difference there then? A club with +18's? The completely different type of Dubstep on offer?

Yeah all of those of course, plus the people tend to have a garage/jungle/house background vs the metal/hardcore/electro house/drum and bass background most bros have.

i think this has a lot to do with it.
tbf i'm probably in the latter background, but discovering garage, jungle, and house has been the best part about listening to dubstep.

My thoughts:
I totally disagree with at total cause-and-effect relationship between drugs and the sounds of dubstep.
Completely agree that there is a correlation though.\
Demographics illustrate all.

Metal/Electro House background wtf
Oh, and speaking of metal, if you are a dj you should combine some Stoner Doom with Dubstep, but not the purest form of Dub.

the fact that people seem to need drugs to enjoy either side of the spectrum speaks volumes for how downhill the scene has gone, then again it's just like any other of the edm branches
not like weed is really a drug anyways

Well K was extremely popular in the 80s and 90s club scenes too, they dressed and acted weird but the music wasn't too bad or overly abrasive. Maybe all the heroin balanced it out. Mephedrone is some next level bad shit though.

<--fabulous on k

dudes here going to Dubstep or Psy parties are all about the mushrooms, acid, pedro, DMT and weed.
You get your share of coke n heroine but generally the folks like being psychedelic.
