clearly they have no idea what kind of response lloyds tracks have gotten.

i do wish there was more online beef of this kind, like if kanye west called skrillex an emo Hi, I'm a homophobe. and just watch the fanboys go apeshit
Mate, all you've gotta do is follow a bunch of rappers and you'll see it every second day

so am i the only one who finds this pretty embarrassing for everybody involved? bunch of kids and i mean everyone!
apart from that the music skream's pushing at the moment isn't very different from that and if you are one of the producers who play a major role in making dubstep go pop music and mainstream, you should be careful with your judgement, when it finally reaches there.

Sorry mate, no offence but that's just not true... I can't see how Cher Lloyd releasing this tune is detrimental to the scene, I can't imagine that this will get played at FWD any time soon and I can't imagine that it will have any impact on the scene at all...

It's like saying that 2 Unlimited or Snap were detrimental to techno... Or that the Venga Boys ruined house music.

Cher Lloyd's music is going to be lapped up by a load of kids and more power to them if that's what they like, let them get on with it... How many people on this board would have heard this tune had a link not been posted to it? I had the misfortune of listening to Radio 1 in the daytime the other day and the vast majority of it was awful, the same as it's always been.

Yeah, dubstep is fashionable and as such you're going to hear its influence everywhere, it'll go away and like house and techno it'll have had very little impact on the scene at all, except for making a few producers a bit of corporate cash.

You seem to be missing the other point. Think about it. She's misleading millions of people who will hear this shit on Radio 1 with this track title itself. Firstly, the instrumental in the track: it's neither dub nor dubstep. Secondly, even more people are going to start referring to dubstep as dub when there is clear differentiation in genres to those who aren't musically inept.

It's just some pompous Syco producer who's jumped on the 'dubstep' fad and like others just prefers to say dub than dubstep in their own ignorance.

No, I think that you've missed the point... Everything you say is true, but so what? What's going to be the impact of this influx of shite on the scene? My bet is nothing...

Her fans will like anything she puts out, they're mainly 7 year olds and people that like her from X Factor... 2 Unlimited shouted 'Techno, Techno, Techno' - if someone was going to document the history of techno, where do you think they would feature, do you think anyone would argue that they had their place alongside Carl Craig and Drexciya? People will have forgotten about Cher Lloyd in 6 months' time, in fact, in 6 weeks time when the new X Factor is in full flow...

Tunnidge:

Detrimental to the scene?

My Grandchild: "Hey pops, whatever happened to dubstep?"

Me: "Skream played Skrillex and some girl who was marginally famous in a handful of countries called dubstep dub..."

I was always told I need to be more succinct with my writing.

Basically, the general public's idea of dubstep is the wahwahwahwahwhawha shit (which Skream, someone at the forefront of the national dubstep scene is playing out ironically) This track, which will no doubt get air play on the national radio will subsequently be misrepresenting what dubstep is and even dub music with this title. I'm just making the point that our fickle national public will have got the wrong end of the stick on what dubstep and dub are yet again - that is all...
