first track was coki - spongebob, some scene slut sent me it and i had no idea what i was but it racked up countless plays.

Sadly.. I wish brostep stopped there, this is actually still a pretty sexy track for getting hyphy.

i think it was this one? had been hearing more filthy stuff out at parties on campus for a long while but when i found this track it made me rethink the genre. don't listen to a whole lot of this dude these days but i still think his mellow stuff is really nice.

heard it on Excision's 2006 Darkside Dubstep mix in 07 (back before he was shit). This was the second track on it, the one that made me go "woah, what the hell is this" and delve deeper. I was 13 bordering on 14 at the time... I spent a lot of time on the internet in my youth...

I listened pretty much exclusively to "real" dubstep, but then for a few months 2008/2009 I had a bit of a brostep phase, but it wasn't like the full on Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, UKF type shit... Just a little Datsik and Excision, like Retreat, Bear Trap remix, shit like that.

So big ups to Distance for getting me into dubstep... You'll always be an idol of mine.

And even if Excision is terrible nowadays, I'll always have a tiny modicum of respect for him because he's also responsible for turning me on to the genre I've been in love with for the past five years.
