Just saw this the other day. Had to face palm when I saw both the product and the commercial. On second watch it zooms in on people's cheeks blasting in, sort of like the bass cannon video. Also at 0:17 it flashes tabasco on the screen and the BAS is centered on the screen, the only real visible letters. Coincidence? Hell no. I think advertisements are a reasonable way to judge how popular something is. Let's get real, somebody chose that specific generic dubstep beat for a specific reason to put in that commercial, they aren't cheap to create and run. They are trying to appeal to the mass audience by using what is "cool". They didn't put it in because some guy working at the marketing firm for SoCo decided to sneak in a little dubstep, they put it in because this is the sound that some dick's research showed would most likely attract younger people (let's say 18-30, target audience for SoCo tobascco imo) to the drink. I realize this was a long rant as I'm a bit baked, but I guess I'm agreeing dubstep is reaching /arguably has hit mainstream in the US, and the recent use of it in commercials is reasonable proof.
