it either proves i'm an ignoramus or rather bright
probably damning though
ok....

the concept of nothing, of non-existence... how do you define it?
well you have to realize it in relation to its essential counterpart: existence

BANG!

i'm serious.
stupid language trick in all likelyhood. although, this does tie into some heady Eastern thought :o

Cool, I will look into them in the morning.

What really seperates the bible from other texts for me (besides some of the scripture itself) is the context into which it was written. It was written over a period of approximately 1500 years by a bunch of different people from kings to tax collectors yet, manages to remain remarkably consistent (this kind of supports the single author theory*)

*By single author I mean Gods word told through these people.

one example
Bible translators often have to make choices as to which word to use when they translate a Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek word into English. At times, it is possible to translate one Hebrew word with more than one English word, and the translator’s choice can significantly affect how we understand the text. This however, is not the point.

You are touching on something that will cause a never ending debate between you and I because, I believe that the bible can only truly be understood when you have accepted that Christ is your personal saviour as; then you are able to discern the holy spirit's workings in your understanding.

The bible isn't just the words on the page, it is those words combined with the Holy Spirit (and the Trinity for that matter) that make the text understandable.

The scientist who wrote the article your example derives from translated the Aramaic to English using one of a possible multitude of words she could have selected in stead of separated. She may be a bible scholar but, it seems (at a glance) she has failed to recognise a pseudonym.

Translation: Then you are able to twist things to suit your beliefs?
Are you really saying you can only understand the Bible if you believe in it as truth?

You can only understand the bible when you Believe in God as truth. And by understand, I mean grasp the overall message. No one truly understands the bible, it is God's word and God is incredibly incomprehensible.

I don't twist it to suit me at all. Have you ever witnessed me twisting the bible to suit my views?

Christ saved me from myself. From my sin. Hell is eternity apart from God. You reject God, God rejects you simple.

As for the pope: I can't stand him, I hate when people take God and twist him into something he isn't. I don't like religion at all tbh, it's too full of doctrine and interpretation. I just love God.

Okay, I see now that I won't be able to change your mind.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion. But every cell in my body hurts when I read that you base your views on logic and evidence.
That is such an insult to those concepts.

Dinosaurs fossils were planted by Satan to throw us on the wrong track, and away from the Lord. "Dinosaurs" never roamed the earth, and they never breathed. They only exist in the fossil state. Do not let Satan lead you away from the unaissailable truth the the Bible, which is God's unfaillible word.

Genesis 15:9
"So the LORD said to him, "Bring me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon."
