Wasn't referring to that particular sample. I like kingdom and all, but these tunes sound to similar to me, also 'let you kno' with fogs...

there's a billion vogue trax which sample that tune. night slugs even released a dj mike q 12" earlier this year, so they're obviously influenced by/referencing all that vogue house stuff.

i can see what he means about stalker ha and his egyptrixx remis, both use the same man base, the same beats and bassline, just with other things on the top, let you kno and fogs though, they are similar style yeah, but its not the same thing.

you listened to track 3 on "The Claw" released by Fade to mind a few months back? its a kingdom track (no names/titles listed) that has all of that goin on. plus its got the HA sample and the egyptrixx rmx samples in the same song. plus a lot of other weird shit. pretty fucking special if you ask me, well worth the $8 for that one alone

yeah about that. I just copped both.

Kingdom, sure he's got a fixed palette at the moment. Nothing wrong with that if you do great things with it. I really like DREAMA EP A lot. Melody, bass, rhythm : good look.

However, what's this MikeQ stuff? I bought it blindly because I seriously digged Nguzunguzu, but this stuff is just plain boring to me. Nothing really going on that should interest me... the only thing that got me slightly excited were 2 of the remixes (including the footwork one).
The rest of the EP is too painstakingly simple for me. It lacks the melodic quality some of the NS signed artists managed to bring. And it lacks the rhythmical challenge Nguzunguzu prestented on the first release...

No, I'm afraid that based on this stuff, MikeQ is not for me... Loving Kingdom's new bits a lot though. Best NS this year so far.

Kingdom is just ahead of Jam City for me as the best NS artist. Fogs and Let You No are just brilliant.

they are nip and tuck. For me, Magic Drops is still my favourite Night Slugs. But Aquadrop was slightly dissapointing (though the ending of "Barely A Track" is pretty epic...). Jam City took the cake last year, but this year, Kingdom looks sharper :)

1-1 :)

nah i think jam city has it for me, i mean im not to on the magic drops ep but waterworx is sick, and his unreleased stuff is even better! looking forward to the album, and yeah kingdom is alright, i prefer stalker ha at a faster speed though, like the youtube rip mixed with drum track at the end. the actual version seems too slow.

only recently learned about that ballroom style of yesteryear. I think my first exposure to it was that mike q track "whip my ha" in a mixtape. blew my mind, hard to stand still.
