im not the worlds biggest techno fan either

but i wasn't a big house fan... now i love it

it took me getting to know individual tracks, structures of tracks, how they're meant to be mixed, how they're meant to sound in a mix, and actually mixing them myself

im still of the view that most music styles have elements of brilliance in them, as much as they have a lot of crap that needs to be sifted through, for me, once you get over the 4x4 there's a lot to be enjoyed and gleened from techno

its certainly a shit-tonne more exciting listening to this than it is listening to a dungeon set, for myself at least

It's very repetitive, that's true. I don't agree it's a lot of fun to watch it though.

anybody with anything more than a passing interest in design knows repetition is one of your greatest tools

whereas I keep finding it fresh with the help of garage rather than house or techno
I don't mind a bit of contemplative (Matthew Dekay-like) minimal/tech house on a Friday arvo
but revived techno can be almost as annoying as emo electro.

Techno was one of the blueprints for my DJ'ing style since the '90's and don't even get me started about electro (though I think you were meaning something else sd5).

im still fairly young, im only 24, im not expecting to be listening to the same music listen to now when im 30

change in tastes is natural

you take the best from what you have and move on to newer things, repeat, repeat, repeat...

till at the end of it all, you hopefully have a taste manufactured from the best of everything you can possibly find

then you put it all together and create something of value

agree entirely, otherwise you'd be prematurely satisfied
but I'm older & been thru enough dance scenes
to know that proppa dubstep is (probably) the best music I'll ever dance to.

I'm not really over dubstep, I just never been into it as much as with techno. I don't understand
why you think techno is annoying. Is it the repetition, the minimalism, the constant pulse or something else?
