Sorry... but WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.
They might have had the best of intentions... but VP doesn't really know what they are talking about.
ALL one can EVER ascertain from a label not replying... is that they aren't ready to release those tunes right then right now. PERIOD. I know plenty of cats (including myself) who thought the demos must've been duds cos the label didn't respond... only to have em get in touch later (weeks - to - months - to - years later) saying "yo - sorry about the delay.. sometimes it takes time,... but now we ready to get bizzy.."
And I am not only talking about big timers - this happens all across the board. Don't forget that even small labels get inundated with demos like you can't believe. They usually barely have the time to sort out what they want and need from their released artists... they simply don't have time to get intimate with those that they like, but aren't sure of right that moment.
Hell - I'll give you a perfect storm example ... I have released with several labels as an artist, I know what I want and expect out of a label (as an artist) so i set out to be exactly that... especially cos i am bringing a few friends on board... should be all swimming moves, right? nope - my wife broke her back, i been taking care of 2 kids plus a wife, plus my day job plus two extra businesses... and this is from a guy who has already picked the artists he wants to work with.
And that was a 'best-case' scenario... so really - as an unsolicited demo, you really have no grounds to decide what a label thinks, other than - right this second, the label isn't release the exact tracks i sent. Seriously - that is all you can assume.
