yeah i was gonna say es2 and sculpture are on par with just about any other high end synth. they're different, but that doesn't make them worse thats for sure.

also a lot of NI's synths are overrated. don't get me wrong, i think they're still amazing but they're not the end all be all synths like some people make them out to be. i hate how 90% of the electronic music scene jerks off to massive and blows massivey loads everywhere lol. i was watching a video of a guy making tech house in logic and he uses es2 and sculpture exclusively and his tracks sound so unique and amazing. he was using 1 instance of fm8 and he does sometimes use massive, but most of his work is done straight from es2 and sculpture.

Yeah maybe I came down too hard on logics stock synths, they ARE good, I just also like the native instruments synths. But no, I prefer to masturbate to porn rather than software, but each to his own I guess :W:

click the wee triangle underneath the stock Logic compressor and there are some hidden distortion modes in the drop-down, like the hidden tape distortion on the Tape Delay plug ;)

there is always a better synth somewhere.

the Logic instrument i actually use the most is EVP88. it's not the best emulation in the world but it's got a really nice tone. same for EVB3 and EVD6 but i don't use them as much.

i like EFM1 because it's so simple.
i don't know if they have changed it but last time i used EXS24 it was hard work just loading samples into it. thats why NN-XT is my go to sampler.
Ultrabeat? give me Kong any day!
ES E - used it for some pads once
ES M - a bit to simple. it's for bass but ES 1 does the job better.
ES P - i've used it for bleep sounds on some weird half grime half IDM tracks i did 6 years ago.
ES 1 - i've used this a lot for bass until Thor came out in Reason 4.
ES 2 - i dunno i just never got along with it.
Sculpture - i will learn this one day but i'm more into learning other types of synthesis.

I sample in ultrabeat and the exs24.

I've never heard of the NN XT, I'd be interested because it is a bit of a hassle to load samplea into the EXS24.

How much does the NNXT cost? What does it do better than the EXS24?

NNXT is in reason. luckily i already have reason :) but i don't know how to get reason working within logic and don't really have the capacity to work both of them into my workflow at the moment. for now I'm just using logic, once i get logic down, then ill work on putting reason back into my workflow.

there is a tutorial somewhere on the propellerhead website on how to rewire Reason into Logic. some people can't handle having 2 apps open at once :corntard: i don't see the problem just press apple + tab to change between the 2.

Yeah, Eat Bass, rewiring is pretty easy and helpful, sometimes I rewire Ableton to Logic so I can use the Operator synth

yeah the problem of switching between the apps wouldnt be the problem for me. right now since i dont know logic very well it would just be a lot to take in. im not sure what i would do in reason and what i would do in logic. i would like to get to know logic pretty well before trying to use both, that way i can better decide what and how to do what i want to do in each program.

plus i would probably watch some videos or something and read up on how people are utilizing both apps, like i said im just a bit confused in how i would work both into my workflow.

I've found e opposite, with ESX24 you can just drag wav files in from the sequencer. I always hated adding them one by one with NNXT, although I guess if you're loading samples from outside the sequencer NNXT might be smoother.

As far as tape saturation goes, I've always loved Masseys Tapehead medium. It's free and dead easy to use haha

its 32 bit though isn't it? i find 64 bit logic doesn't recognize 32 bit plugs. i read somewhere that you have to turn back to 32 bit then find the plugs then switch back to 64 and then they will be there.

Yes it's 32-bit. Here it is btw http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5363589/TapeHea ... ponent.zip Logic uses 32-bit AudioUnit Bridge which can be CPU heavy at times, but it still works.

Just bought this, worth checking out Airwindows ToTape

logic in 64 bit doesn't recognize 32 bit plus sometimes though...im just trying to run all 64 bit if possible.

Thats the point of 32-bit AudioUnit Bridge. So u can use 32 bit plug ins while running logic at 64 bit, but as mentioned, u can cop a heavy cpu load.

i already know this but there is a bug where sometimes logic will not recognize 32 bit plugs in 64 bit. you have to go back to 32 bit, find the plug, then go back to 64 bit. just seems like a bit of a pain to me. like i said I'm just trying to run all 64 bit.

Yeah I'm still running in just 32 bit mode for now, my poor laptop can't handle the bridge haha.
