It`s french but not from France.
They are a nomadic tribe from the Sahara.
I watched them live last year at a show presented by the South African French Alliance.
Pretty incredible stuff imo.
This is lovely, but are you sure it's in french? I can't understand a single word..

Thanks a lot guys! I even saw one or two artists I'd forgotten about. I'm going to go threw all this and check this weekend.

It is French yes, hehehe.
But it is from Niger in the Sahara, I`m sure they have their own dialect.
There live act is great.
All the drums are calabash drums & water drums.
The bass drum was a large calabash flipped and placed on a cushion.
Mic-ed up it was pretty tight and thick.
The guitarist as well was mad good.
There was a percussionist that had bells around his ankles and he looked so fookin wasted.
Huge smile, thin slits, all dressed in desert garb.
Just smiling and stomping his feet to create the beat.
Then a belly dancer comes on and the entire band turns to stare are her, they play on but seriously stare at her.
Like she was the first women they`d seen in months.
Desert must be a rough place, can`t even jerk-off because of all the sand.
