Well if your beef is really with the TV show...I doubt this will really do much to the DJ culture for any real extended period of time...and by the point when DJing is played out, everyone will be back on a live PA ting so who cares?

i guess we can say dance/electronic music is at its peak again.... now we just have to wait to see how long it takes to fall back into obscurity

i know this question has been discussed a trillion times on this forum, but what do you guys think qualifies as a good DJ? This show is making me think that its gonna be a turntablist wank fest. what about someone like yunx rinsing tunes for minutes at a time without a flaw? or mixing with 3 turntables? building a set, knowing the right tunes to play, and being a skilled mixer is where i find i appreciate a good DJ. taste goes a really long way... probably most important for me as a listener. if will smith and simon cowell are going to be the judges of what constitutes a good DJ, they will most likely choose the person who is most marketable. which is uninteresting and conforming.

i wonder what kinds of mediums are allowed as far as "DJing" goes.

Its either going to be really bad or really really bad. Will be the same as x-factor but with macbooks and midi controllers, although i hope im wrong and it actually does turn out decent.

I was just thinking its not gonna be very compelling viewing. I mean you might have fun with your mates in a room having a mix but watching people on TV do it is gonna be boring as hell!

Saying all that I agree with the majority here but I'll still watch it to see what its like!
