I've got an original Schecter C7 7-string badboy with an ugly headstock but an otherwise lovely see through blue finish. Still got to replace the stock Duncan Designed pups for Invaders or something, but always worked for me in the studio.

Also got a lovely Jackson Performer, US built, that a friend left in my possession.

Amp-wise I recently picked up a Jet City (made by Soldano) JCA20 mini stack with 2x12 cab, sounds quite like a JCM800/900, with a Maxon OD-808 tubescreamer in front of it.

Got an absolutely sick Hughes and Kettner 4x12 with Celestions in it (possibly even V30s) back home in Glasgow, would love to get it shipped to Oz but that would cost a bomb.

as much as i love my jackson's though, the feel of a strat is just second to none, maybe because I learned on one?
I agree with this wholeheartedly... though I also learnt on a Strat... nothing feels so perfectly balanced.

My SG nosedives so you can barely take your hands off the neck when you've got it strapped on without the headstock plummeting for the floor... ANNOYING.

Yeah that's what i didn't like about sg's. Everyone that i've played has immediately tried to commit suicide when i stop giving it attention. And, i just don't like fenders, unless it's a higer end one. My first guitar was a fender "starcaster" and it was worse than a squire. When i got my ibanez prestige, it was like playing a whole new instrument. I could play things that were unimaginable a week before. If anyone is discouraged with guitar, a new one could help, seriously.
But that being said, the "Lenny" reproduction from Fender is an amazing piece of wood. And i do love me some teles.

I plan on getting an acoustic when I've sold my other one and my Ibanez SR765 5 string bass....

Anyone use any small valve amps? I was going to get a Vox TV-4 or something with a Fender Strat

Nicest guitar I've ever touched was a PRS custom 24. It's been my dream guitar ever since.
Once I get the cash I'm getting a C24, 10 top, quilted maple, gold hardware, headstock veneer, pickup selector and coil tap push/pull knob mod...

i've got a bad cat cub II (15 watts) and a Marshall vs15 (40 watts) and they both work great with the strat.. but in all honestly, i find myself using the marshall with the volume turned down rather then the bad cat at full volume. sounds better..
vox amps are great though, no worries there.
