I didn't go to high school in the US, but I have family and friends that did in a few different states. By all accounts what pkay and kidshuffle say is pretty spot on. My cousins go to crowded schools and the education is pretty bad. There's far too many people in one class from what they have told me. Also a lack of education about places outside the US. One of my oldest friends is going to city college right now and the stories he has told me about how absolutely clueless a lot of the people there are... wow. Scary.

i hated summer school. getting held back isn't bad you just get to mess around more

I'm in right now and can sum up my school like this: so the difficulty levels go AP, 1,2,3 ok and if you're in an AP or Level one then you are instantly held at a higher standard than the others (teachers and students alike) If you don't play a sport or if you do , and you run track and but arnt top 5 in the state you get shit on by everyone else (lucky me for baseball right?) Homework doesn't mean shit if you do well on tests then teachers don't care. Yes clicks are what high school is , if your like me going from a private middle school to public hs then better fucking make friends and fast or your gonna be pretty damn lonely on the weekends( another incentive for sports) If you go to any school sponsored event i.e. dance, football game, basketball game and are drunk, you get instant cool point by everyone else there. Girls only date the jocks who drink heavily and are the best on the team other than them, its pretty difficult to land one. Yeah thats pretty much high school in a nut shell

sounds a lot like the school i went to when i was a teen, but in the uk obviously.

it was a fun time, but looking back as an adult i actually hate that school for being so shit.

i had a pretty awful time in high school, but i think that has less to do with the school environment than it does with ages 14-18 being a pretty confusing, transitional time for most people.

i think it's a good time if you belong to the cool guys in your class. if not....
then you're fucked.

Eh, highschool here is what you make it out ot be. I'm still in (5th year senior, fun fun) and shit never changes.
You have the drug clique, the scene/goth clique, the skank clique, the jock-asshole clique, the cool jock clique, the nerds, the doctors, and the undesirables at my school.
High school is a terrible exercise in expecting teenagers to act like adults while still treating them like children. They say they're preparing us for college, yet people drop out left and right, because high school administrator's lied and told them they were fully preparing them for college. Eh.
I hate the education system though. The fact that i have to come here everyday, instead of working for a living, is fucking ridiculous. I get that school is trying to teach you how to learn, but i don't want to fucking learn everything. I think you should be able to pick your core classes and you get a diploma in each subject. Would work a lot better for people who know what they want to do when they enter high school, as opposed to the wankers who don't know what they want out of life.
