My favorite thing is trying to explain to someone what techno is, of course they think it's just a catch-all term for EDM

That's what I do. I went from saying 'I listen to dubstep', to 'I listen to dubstep' followed by explaining what dubstep is and what brostep is.. to just saying 'I listen to bass music'. Fuck explaining myself to uneducated people, bored of it now.

But i'll just say bass music.
Slightly on topic, it really annoys me when people say they listen to everything, yet all they listen to is top 40 shit.

The worst, I hate those people. Thats a bit like dubstep for me, I do consider myself to listen to a huge variety of music in terms of genres.. I even own a Pavarotti album! But I never admit I listen to 'everything' because most people who say that are morons who listen to, as you said, "top 40 shit".

When people have on facebook like, they 'like' that I Love Music page, and then like shit like top 40, its like how can you love music when you only listen to what you are told to and dont actively find stuff yourself.
