I wouldnt say Vex'd open the doors for more industrial sounds, Vex'd were definitly on the industrial side of things, but bar a small few others like Milanese and Broken Note to an extent, there really was no broadening of that industrial sound.

Vex'd music is quite complex, harsh, almost white noise over creepy atmospheres and serious low end. The whole albums (Degenerate) is really aggressive but yet dark and atmospheric. For its music, i think it still has to be bettered by a similar sounding artist.

Brostep on the other hand is just over the top. Trying to hard to sound aggresssive, and just sounds cheesey, theres no real menance to the music like Vex'd, it just sounds stupid most of the time.

Saying that, i could see brostep producers been influenced by them.

Dude, why did you say Vex'd are bro?! :u:

I think it's clear that Maccaveli added that to wiki.

Come on Jon... Wikipedia wouldn't publish inaccurate information would they?
No need for a thread, just edit it.

But it's not inaccurate, Excision was one of the first to popularize brostep and he was inspired by Vex'd. That's what the article is saying. Holy shit, why is this such a difficult concept to understand?

Excision, Capsa, Rusko, Doctor P, Datsik. Those guys are Brostep. Those guys make mid-range basslines. If its good or not, way too much personal i would say. To me, i like some songs. But you guys have to concern that all of them know dubstep by the same age and songs we know, if they do brostep is their choice, they are not the one who see a dancing crew video with brostep in the background, donwloaded a pirate copy of fl and massive and started doing dubstep. Those are the guys who came after them, and the background of the video probably was one of their songs.
Mt Eden etc are the one who came after them.

Skrillex and etc is those one who came from house or electro saying OMG DUBSTEP IS THIS NEW GENRE? lets make some money! Deadmau5 probably wasn't giving a fuck about real deal dubstep, but know it exist. When skrillex came, he just saw a way of getting more money.

Am I the only one here who doesn't care what sub genre a tune fits in? They just tunes. I feel em or I don't and what sub genre they fit in doesn't interest me in the slightest.

I do however, think its stupid to say that Vex'd is a producer who gave up working with sub lines to concentrate on mid range. That's just fukken dumb

datsik and excision obviously have been around longer than other people and id say theyre an exception....i seriously doubt the archetypal bro sound has any relation to vex'd...and vex'd have huge deep sub on their tunes and if anything had more in common with grime....listen to tunes like venus....amazing

and then their remix of fallen and sileni.....how the hell does that have anything in common....the only song that you could say even slightly influenced bro is angels and even then...no....just no

cpt.pollution your footer (mis)quote almost made me pee a little.

Vex'd are not brostep because it does not trigger an emotional responce of "awesome shit bro that blew me away" by 16-26 year olds who before discovering 'dubstep' didnt know what EDM stood for. Chances are though some 'producers' purposely bastardised some of their techniques.

That being said a lot of bro producers are there by choice not as they don't lack the musical ability to produce quality (real) dubstep.

i.e:

<iframe src="/forum/video.php?url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rMeyJzh0dQ" frameborder="0" style="overflow:hidden; height:auto; max-width:540px"></iframe>

Personally I like some brostep, it just gets boring quickly.

the root of the whole problem was
US artists often drew inspiration from
and the only example we have of people drawing inspiration from Vex'd is Excision & Datsik, who aren't American...

This is not true. Yes, the article in question is stupid, but a study has shown Wikipedia is as accurate as Britannica.
