I used to take clanging really seriously, in fact one time I took the mic off the MC at the end of my set and apologised All my mates said they didnt notice so you might have been being overly harsh to yourself (which loads of DJs are, and its a good thing not to think you're the dogs bollocks) Now if I clang i have a joke with it, shrug at the crowd or pull a really confused face. You've got to remember that alot of the punters wont know a good mix from a bad one, and the ones that do are probably too drunk to care. This doesnt mean dont practise, but dont beat yourself up about it. Especially on vinyl, so hard to get a perfect set even in your bedroom.

totally agree with this, you will be a much harsher critic than anyone else. On the pulling face thing, rather than look confused I'd just smile and nod like everything is gravy, the people watchin will wonder what they're missing or assume its the equipment and not you.


Also don't give up on vinyl because you've had a bad night. What will you do when your laptop crashes or cd's skip, there won't be any ways for you to mix left.

Write down what went wrong and how to avoid / improve it.
After that, get wasted!

Did you just blame your records? It sounds like you didn't practice and learn your material well enough.

This is true, loads of new tracks, not enough practice with all the new material.
The guys on after me, both used Tractor with CDJs and had seamless transitions every time.
ANALOG vs Digital Conversation ment to be repeated over and over again till the end of time,
(I think no matter what I would still buy records because I love vinyl!)
and Serato is a rather spendy investment, but really which is better...

1) Auto sync beat matching possibilities, never ending supply of BPMed tracks with the Digital.
2) Wider frequency range on dubs in the Analog.

and yes, the grass is greener on the other side,
which is why my all time favorite DJ sets (Juan Atkins & Kode9) are the ones where the DJ played DIgital and Vinyl.
