Computer Exchange is the worst, most disorganised and scutty shop i have ever had the displeasure of using.

Have you been to multiple? I have been to some shite ones and some great ones - the one in Kingston is amazing but the bromley one (dunno if its still there?) is shocking.

Err, what rock you been living under? HMV issued multiple profit warnings last year and have been fighting to survive for a while now. They're losing money to the online sector just as much.

The whole point of their business model and the reason they keep their prices down is because they don't have the outlay of a physical shop front to maintain.

They want to do a "click & collect" thing. They said it would be much easier since they don't just sell small items like books & DVD's anymore.

Yeah. But HMV also bought a fair few venues last year recently and are still going relatively strongly considering the number of shops they have. They could get rid of half of them and still have more than enough.

Well retro game collecting has been thriving for about the last 20 years, plus, when all that tb's worth of game data you dl'd to your xbox 720's harddrive disappears after disc failure and you have to exceed your monthly usage limit just trying to recover a third of it, people will soon be asking 'why no disc?'. It should be cheaper for games in theory but a look at the PSN, with full downloadable games costing more than retail disc's suggests otherwise.

It's incredible how expensive it is to download full games considering how much the games companies are getting out of it (they're sidestepping both the retailers mark up and completely cutting out the secondary market, and that's before you consider the overheads/materials required to produce the physical games themselves).

The way things are going, computer games are inevitably going to end up being cloud based, without even the need for much (any?) downloading. Not the best trend in my opinion.
