Pshhh yeah man if your favorite artist uses a certain DAW and you start using that DAW, you'lll automacially gain 99.99% improvement at what you;re working on soley based on your DAW

Not a clue who uses Reaper, i've not seen any pro's using it on a masterclass vid or anything. Not to say they don't. I'm just making the point that there is nothing wrong with learning a tool that someone you respect uses. Take Massive for example, tons of people use it, and for good reason. Easy to use, capable of a wide range of sounds, great interface etc. There is a reason things get popular, and there are always a few people moaning about it as they like to be different, along with the millions of 'different' people. I use Cubase for a few reasons, and one of them is that i know a lot of top artists use it. Therefore i know for certain that it is a fully capable bit of kit.

Now you're making yourself look stupid, because i never said anything like that and clearly you got the wrong meaning. Comments like this are way over the top. All i'm saying is that if a DAW, VST or piece of hardware is popular amongst pro's, there must be a reason for it. Its as simple as that.

Personally i'm sticking with Cubase, as i've put a lot of time and effort into learning it inside out. I'd like to learn Ableton too, but i'm not sure if there would be any benefit. And the time it takes me to learn a new DAW could be spent on making tunes.

Wasn't meant to attack what you said, sarcasm is quite tough to deliver over the internet. Reason I hopped on fruity was because I read Skream & Benga used it back in the day among other things

Personally, i feel once you've started learning a certain DAW, you should never give it up. Im not saying you shouldn't learn another DAW as well (Im currently planning on learning Cubase on the side) Its not about the DAW, its about how tyou use it, as already said Skream and Benga use (or used) FL. Ive been using Ableton for the almost 2 years now, and im still discovering new functions, I only found the clip Envelope settings about 2 months ago, and only found out you could save your own template about a week ago

You say that when you export that your files sound distorted, well is that cos you are mixing them with the levels way too high, so whilst in the 32bit realm it sounds ok, but once you bounce it to 24 or 16bit audio file, it sounds shit. The DAW has nothing to do with it, everyone else has said that getting Cubase wont make your tunes better. Yes it may be seen as more of an industry tool, and in the 'Pro' field as in like professional recording studios, FL is merely a toy. For making electronic music though FL is just as good as any other DAW, so stop making excuses about your tools holding you back and just fucking get better and making beats.

No problem, i just wanted to explain better as there were a couple of replies like that. For the record i got into Cubase because i'd seen tutorials from Chase & Status, Sub Focus and i also saw that Noisia used it. I had to choose a DAW so figured that Cubase would be able to do everything i needed.

Truth is, some things are easier on some DAW's than others. But i cannot think of any single feature that one can do that the other can't achieve somehow. As others have said, i really believe the best thing to do is spend tons of time on just one DAW, and with just a few plugins. My Cubase now is like a black belt super version of Cubase compared to when i first installed it. I press one button to bring up a spectrum analyzer, one key to bounce audio, one key to process with an eq, gate, compressor, i've set up tons of macros. I've also configured the layout just how i like it, and set up a few templates. The only way i could have done this is to learn what i used most and learn Cubase's functions. I still don't know it 100%.

I would only consider changing if a new DAW came out that did everything better. Cubase still lags behind in some departments, such as automation and midi learn, crappy plugins, random glitches and bloatware/legacy stuff from old versions. I'd like to see that get better. I'll probably also check out Bitwig when its released just out of curiosity.

Whatever, I'm making the switch... Thanks for the replies everyone. Fruity Loops, it was nice working with you, but our love never was.
