By this logic In 2012 labels should be selling 10,000 x 12" per-release(I'm not) but how does that explain labels selling 5,000/10,000 per-release pre-youtube(1990-2001) but are selling less in 2012 with mass hype via youtube?

i would say I've bought songs from artist's I haven't heard about before because a channel I'm subscribe to uploaded a rip. Obviously not everyone hearing the rip is gonna by the tune but its definitely a way of promoting the artist/release
can't hear the vocal sample in either of the remixes...
am i just being stupid

A lot of people rinse tracks on youtube and then complain that the song is old by the time it gets released. So it's a way of making sure the release sounds fresh by it's release date
