"It is going to cost me 90% of my turnover, That is a very good reason for anyone to oppose any plan. " ??

I'm not commenting on whether the ban is a good idea overall or not, but "it's going to cost me money" is absolutely not "a good reason to oppose any plan".

It's a pretty good reason for the guy who makes his living from the coffee shop, surely?

the new rule applies to Vlissingen as wel. But it is less known as a weed destination. If I could make a prediction, I'd say Maastricht will be a no go for us from now (but I never went there any way). My guess is that outside of Limburg, the rules won't be applied strictly, so Vlissingen should be allright.

I don't want to have to hang around outside trying to get someone to buy my weed for me, I'm not a 15 year old trying to buy cheap cider and cigarettes ffs

Yeah my girlfriend's Dutch and left a while back. She doesn't smoke, but from the stories she tells me the laws are pretty fucked/one-sided. She wasn't the least bit surprised by this.

I'm not saying I agree with it, but I understand trying to take the focus away from the whole cannibis thing on the tourist front, seeing as whenever I tell someone of I've been to Amsterdam, the number 1 question people ask me is "how was the weed?". It's never about the van gough museum or the anne frank house or the canals, always about the coffee shops, or the women. It is a bit funny though that nothing has been mentioned about the hookers or trying to ban tourists from using them...

That being said, Amsterdam is a beautiful city and I would gladly go back there if they ban weed for tourists (I didn't smoke when I went there the first time anyways).

thinking about what my mate said the other day it could all just be a ploy.

Say the ban is coming in for 2013 = busy summer of tourists for the dutch as people want to go before the ban comes in?

(i doubt thats gonna heppen but it would be very smart/sneaky)

Who cares if that's the main reason people go? If the only reason the majority of people went was to go and see the Ann Frank museum, would they do the same? Have to have an Ann Frank pass to get in??

The main reason people go to Spain is because it's sunny. The main reason people go to the alps in the winter is because there's snow. The main reason people come to the UK is to see castles and shit.

Get over it!

Coffeeshop owners have already been talking about boycotting it.
