no it is not m8!! i agree with u bout piracy being wrong etc.. developers not developing anymore etc... but it is not any where close to armed robbery!! serious think bout what u just said!!
if i walk into dixons and twoc a tv. worth 500 squids that is the same as skankin a DAW of the net!! there is a huge difference when a weapon is used... taking a weapon means u have gone thru certain thought processes meaning u are prepared to cause injury with said weapon... ie.. its pre-meditated..

I was saying that reporting the 30 or so people who have it on Soulseek to te labels isnt gonna make any diffrence, by the time it has been reported another 30 people will probably have it...

Don't really agree with pirating tracks if you don't plan to buy them, but if you think all the producers who make dubstep are using legit copies of their software, you're kidding yourself.
Coming up here and asking for a free MP3 is incredibly cheeky, but shooting down people who use firesharing programs is almost as ridiculous.

I can't speak for everyone else, by my morals limit my pirating to try-before-buy only... if I like something, I buy it.. if not, I delete it. Plain and simple.
If I knew someone was pirating some software, I wouldn't support them. Period. Or how can they rightly complain when someone pirates their tracks?

ok well if someone wanted a copy of one of the forums tunes-would u make em pay? or spread the love and ya music..i only wanted to try b4 i buy'd it...dubway gave me a sample that was enuff..for now ill go buyit take a picture of the receipt and put it on the forum for everyone to see

No fucking way! Support the scene you claim to love on the net, by supporting it financially.
People spend 4 pounds on a pint of beer, but won't spend 1 pound buying an mp3 that lasts for years?

if they are posted online by the producer, they are obviously creative commons... which makes it a moot point, really.
don't parse words. it's stealing, plain and simple.
as an up and coming producer, you should be worried--piracy makes getting signed harder, because labels can't afford to take risks--some asshole will just rip a 320.
It's not yours to give away!
Have some respect for the scene... dubstep producers aren't exactly getting major label deals... and a lot of the labels are still pretty indie--they can't afford one idiot ripping shit and putting it online for all to steal.
I can't be as pissed about the software, I use hardware anyway for the most part--but not every asshole should be able to make tracks for free--everyone that has come before us has had to invest thousands of dollars to build a studio... what makes you so special?

[RANT]Actually, it isn't stealing. It's copying. If you download a track, the original file does not disappear from the producers computer. The only thing that disappears is imaginary money. You MIGHT have bought the track, if you hadn't dl'ed it, or you MIGHT not.
I find the the fact that some people in this thread have gotten on their high and selfrighteous horse quite amusing. If you look at the top of this page, there's a link called "mixes" where you can find a whole shitload of DJsets full of published tracks, and download them for free. As far as I know, the legality of this is still under heavy debate.
Just for the record, I have dl'ed illegal tracks before, mainly as a try-before-you-buy sort of thing. I stopped doing that a while back and have just started an amazing relationship with bleep.com.
On the whole though, I'm all for piracy, never have so many people had access to so much good music, and it has made the major labels SERIOUSLY rethink their marketing and A&R strategies. Personally, I'm spending more money than ever on music and I know that it's mainly been the major labels that have been hit hard by this thing. Most of the independents are doing fine, as long as they don't release crap.[/RANT]

I have to admit I was kinda hooked into Soulseek for a while, then I just stopped full stop. It is kinda a mania, but now I understand and feel that it is pretty wrong. I like bleep, though, becuase my understanding is that artists actually get more money from buying their tracks digitally than on cd or vinyl cus the cost is much lower, so there is more profit. I hope so at least. I am developing a bit of a bleep problem though...
