Okay, here's how the clap came out. Any suggestions?

That's Atmosphere, he's a legend in 'alternative' rap, if you can call that a thing.Immerse wrote:sounds good, good tune!! that you spitting? if so.. good work
Yeah, thanks for the insight. I turned up the low end when I mastered it to give the kick more power, but I guess it kind of drowned out the rest of the track.Maxxan wrote: Also, and this isn't really on topic but I kinda want the lyrics more present in the mix. I guess since it's a remake you might not want that, but I think it'd make the track more listenable, at least for fans of rap like me.
Yeah I guess for rap you'd want a lot more lows in the vocals than your average electronic music, but it's problematic since there's a lot of stuff going on there. Might not be able to fit both actually.MORZ42 wrote:Thanks everybody!

the vocals have plenty of space it feels, I hadn't ever heard this particular track but I didn't have any trouble following the words at allMaxxan wrote:That's Atmosphere, he's a legend in 'alternative' rap, if you can call that a thing.Immerse wrote:sounds good, good tune!! that you spitting? if so.. good work
Yeah, clap sounds tight man. To me it feels 'sampled' though, not like a real one. But it still sounds real good. Maybe turn down the highs a bit and put some reverb on it for that muddy acoustic Kanye sound, if you're into that? Yeah, that's true, there's nothing wrong with it like that. But in rap the vocals are generally more present than in other types of music. The focus isn't on melodies and arrangement so much as it is on flow of the rapper and his choice of words, and if this were a rap recording they would probably be more present, or at least that's what it sounds like to me.Kilo Graham wrote: the vocals have plenty of space it feels, I hadn't ever heard this particular track but I didn't have any trouble following the words at all
