goth-trad used to make noise, check his first two albums. he started doing dubstep-ish stuff on his 3rd album.
yeah, geiom used to make some sick "idm".
i never said quantum soul made something else. i was talking about octane & dlr being in cymatic.
kevin martin (aka the bug) had loads of projects. the bug wasn't dubstep either at first. his first album from '97 (when the bug was him and dj vadim, I think) was more hiphop, then he started doing some aggro dancehall-ish stuff, then moved to dubstep.
martyn used to do mostly dnb and some house.
miles/mlz does some basic chanel-ish techno. he's also in pendle coven (really great stuff) and demdike stare. releases on modern love.

Pretty sure Goth-Trad was making Breakcore before and he was quite successful with it(?)

his first two albums were pretty much noise. on mad raver's dancefloor he started doing dubstep and breakcore, if you can call it that. his other project, rebel familia, was more jungle/breakcore.

alot of dubstep artists have come from different backgrounds and i suppose thats what makes it interesting.

One of my favorite artists who blends into most styles is Yoof or king yoof, he did some early breakstep stuff with j da flex
and makes a bit of dubstep

Again guys... Thanks for some new names and some explanations. Knowledge is the key :)
Defo I add new names to list.

About Pendulum.. they made some poppy-dubstep tracks on their albums too... Single "Otherside" has dubstep version in it, latest album also has one or two tracks. But I don't consider them as dubstep group ;] Knife Party is a side-project with some Pendu' members but not the whole group, so I consider it as a different thing.

Kill The Noise? I know it only for loudy-electro tracks. Must dig deeper I guess.

BTW. First episode of my radio-show about "non-dubstep producers that made dubstep tunes" tonight at BREAK.FM radio (starts 19:55 (GMT+1 time)). Looking forward to lock onto stream & listen from you guys :)

can't see rsd anywhere in this thread- he was one half of smith and mighty

mala and coki used to be mcs- mostly jungle i think not sure if they produced anything on that tip though

you'll find that most producers that have been around for a long time were doing somin else before even if it never quite came to fruition

plastician- grime if that counts?

Totally didn't know that, but I guess it makes sense because I've always wondered why his tunes have these incredibly trancey build ups filled with trance super-saws and stuff.

Yah, it's always pretty nice to suprise yourself with this kind of information. :)
I only wonder why he hadn't got much attention - his production skill is awesome, but only has a few trance releases... nvrmnd. Glad he's more into broken music ;]

Oh yeah, good shot. Thanks man!
mala and coki used to be mcs- mostly jungle i think not sure if they produced anything on that tip though
well, so for now we can assume that they've started their adventrue with music production from dubstep.
you'll find that most producers that have been around for a long time were doing somin else before even if it never quite came to fruition
well, not the most. Some of them like Skream've started entirely from dubstep. You know what I mean: people that had made their own music in previous style(s) before dubstep came in & they'd been recognizable for their work, like Kryptic Minds f.e.
plastician- grime if that counts?
Hmmmm, nope. FM, grime is technically connected with dubstep in many ways so I consider it as a mutual thing (many grime MCs throw their bars to dubstep riddims).

Thanks for your help in the subject ;] Cheers :)

Here's another one: Scorn. He makes techno, idm, electronica & dubstep sometimes too.

Scorn started out as an industrial metal band as a side project of Napalm Death members, though from '95 onwards it was Mick Harris solo. The first Scorn album actually has the same line-up as Napalm Death's "Scum". He also has an ambient project, Lull.

Besides some good ones mentioned, Hellfire Machina did a lot of stuff before starting to release dubstep a couple of years ago.
Which reminds me legendary Lenny Dee & Industrial Strength Records have done some dubstep recently too. Should need no explanation who that is, hopefully ; )
