Not accusing anyone of anything, but also paying for them will make loads of difference because of the investment. You'll spend a lot more time learning it to try and get your money's worth. Accuse away!!! Ive definitely used cracks .I guess you're right in that it does cheapen the value a bit. That being said plenty of people, myself included, have bought things they've ended up never using. Lex Luger has an mpc that just collects dust.

Most of the deep kind of dubstep I was talking about doesn't really use much complicated sounds. A simple resonant sub bass as the main bass in the song can sound a beast if it is produced properly.

I understand what you are saying, but say if you listen to this:

The actual bass used in it is pretty simple to make yet it sounds immense.

No offense but being 14 is a pretty major influence in not being able to comprehend more advanced aspects of production/composition properly. As you grow your mind deepens exponentially and your awareness in general caters to subtleties beyond the scope of a younger mind. That being said it doesn't mean great music can't be made by younger people, it just means that, amongst other things, a deeper experience from a longer time spent living isn't there to transfer into an emotional message within the music. Think back to your mental scope when you were 9, 5 years ago, now imagine yourself 5 years from now, and 5 years on from then. You get the idea.

As you grow your system of understanding develops and questions such as "are simple synths better" are no more than a fleeting question with the answer immediately obvious. Of course they aren't better, their potential scope for sound design increases ten fold per possible application/combination of parameter.

I'm not being condescending, although some may see it this way, I'm just being honest about something younger people might find offensive.

Oh I know, I've got much sought after rare synths sitting on my desk that haven't been turned on in a year.
anyway I didn't know you were 14 (unless they meant someone else), so yeah start small and learn synthesis. I'd recommend checking out some books from a library. It's a good time to go to libraries because many of them are so hungry for people to keep reading books, a lot of them offer books for free now. I'd also recommend checking out Programming Analogue Synths (free pdf- http://www.gearslutz.com/board/attachme ... synths.pdf). It came with Access Virus synths, but it can be applied to pretty much any synth both hardware or software since it's basic subtractive synthesis info.

Yeah I was reading the Sound on Sound Synth Secrets and read like 20 chapters of it. I can definitely get my way around a synth. I'm gonna check these resources out though. Thanks!
