You've got alot to learn... seems like your arrangement capabilities are pretty alright, although I'm ignoring the parts of your songs where you straight up use another songs intro as your own. Learn chords, and remember to just keep putting out tunes. Don't expect to make a living out of this for at least 2 years, but you're probably looking at 4 years to be realistic... It may even take 10, or it could never happen i really have no idea. Just ask yourself if you're going to be in it for the long run and this isn't just a phase your going through. Just remember to set goals and achieve them and you'll get better eventually.

From touring and dj'ing right?I see what your saying but innovating a new sound in a genre is going to get you there quicker isn't it?

The intro was from a Vengeance dubstep essentials, I didn't really want to use it, but I was in a hurry to finish that song before my exams :p And in case you are wondering, I plan doing this as a job, going to school for it (there is a new course opening at the college I'm going to which explains EVERYTHING) and spending all my time on it. I've listened to music since I was a little kid (on my Walkman heh, remember those things?) And was always intrigued by the work put into each piece, and it wasn't until dubstep that I really felt I knew what I wanted to do

Pretty sure the intro is from a different song, can't pinpoint which one though

i think people really value being 'innovative' over just producing good music a little too much. there can never be a shortage of just good music, a lot of the producers i listen and would pay to see aren't doing anything new, they just do what they do well and i think that's what's important. if screechy formant brosteps sounds are your thing great, make your tracks better than the thousands of other kids making the same sounds and you'll have success

Well if it was from another song, then we both were using the sound provided through Vengeance. I didn't steal it if you're thinking I did. :l

How long have you been producing seriously?

Well I received Ableton from this Christmas, and it's been six months then, take half away for school, and I'd say about 2ish months of actual producing.

So yeah any other tips are still really awesome, keep em coming! :p

Best tip i ever got was to make that pukka face so you can take the shaft all in one.

Thats how most people get signed. also tickle the balls , record execs like that too.


as for formant sounding meh... Try chaining up a few eqs and sweeping the around.

This thread was suppose to have nothing to do with the career aspect of this thing, I just wanted to know how to make a certain sound. And so far hardly anyone has actually contributed to that. So if someone could please help me from here, I've got the bass I like in Ni Massive, now, whats the next step to giving it that juicy, phat sound?

Forgot to mention this, if you're looking to recreate a bass from a tutorial on Youtube for example, don't just make the patch and use it. Go through each thing that makes up the patch, and try to understand what it does to the sound - that way if you want a certain element (e.g. "oh this wavetable and position adds grit to sound") you can add it into your original patches and make new sounds.

Massive has a "modern talk" waveshape. You can use the 30min-at-a-time demo and sample it.

I heard Prepare and I liked it. Try using vocals for that extra hook.
