well one thing is that it is uncommon to see any dnb dj's play much longer than an hour, hour and a half...
As a promoter I know most sets only go for 45-90 minutes, so maybe I should have been more specific.
Other than the beard strokers, who would really care enough to go see it all live? Obviously there will be diversity, but half the fun is seeing what other people bring to the table. I'm not a huge fan of anything over 2 hours tbh; regardless of who the DJ is.

right, which is common. so a 5 hour set would be something very different, which would stimulate interest. if you are taking a promoter's perspective on this, you should be well aware that fabric knows what they are doing as promoters

. if they thought people would get bored, it was most likely a subject which was given a good amount of thought and discussion, with the question being asked if this is a good idea or not. they still went with it, meaning that it felt like the right thing to attempt. supposedly they were going to stream it live, still not sure if that happened. anyway this kind of thing happens in the techno world all the time.. djs play for very long time periods.. such as danny tenaglia. that guy played sets for like
eight hours on the regular all over the world... and people loved it. sound factory, which is a very popular night club in new york for minimal techno and house has djs playing there for hours and hours on end... dnb heads are not solely exposed to just the dnb culture... lots do listen to techno, and are aware of the points i was just mentioning about long dj sets--bringing back to my original point, its uncommon if it happens in the dnb world, again making it special.

the response for the few who have responded in this thread have been positive, even though i have been the majority of posts

. unless you consider all of us beard strokers, it seems that people would care enough to see it live... i personally still have never seen dbridge live yet, im also trying not to attempt a false consensus on what others think based on my own feelings. that being said, it would be something really special if i was there for it. aanndd, 5 hours from dbridge? that translates into 5 hours of QUALITY dnb, even for the regular club goer.

Maybe you are a bunch of beard strokers
Again, to me, 5 hours for anyone is just too much. I get how that can be seen as special, but imo its just over doing it. 3 is special; 5 is jerking off for the sake of jerking off.

What about when Jah Shaka does 6 hour sets? He aint doing that for the sake of jerking off.
Dipped in and out of this while I was at fabric as well, looking forward to having a proper listen!

Room was packed out aswell so I mean guess he must have been doing something right!
Think the longest sets ive seen have been Hernan Cantaneo which was 5 hours and Sasha for 4 but as esfandyar says its far more common in techno/proghouse than anything else.

all this talk of 5 hour sets being too much reminds me of what Storm said in this interview:
Soundcloud (@ around 28 mins)
