Not just any 808.
To make this as fair as possible, we only use the one in the mediafire link in the OP.
Just a head up, I'll be uploading to soundcloud from shortest to longest, if your tune doesn't fit, I will post a shortened version.
But that's just worst case scenario stuff.

Marks, get set, go.

Also, one submission each please, no more.

I'll edit this thread properly when I'm at an actual computer.
Also, vocoders. Do they count? I figured this would require some form f consensus before completion.

seems you should be able to use any piece of gear, but you'd need to use the 808 as the initial source for any and all audio waves (read "sound")

so in theory, you could totally mangle the sample, use delay, fx, verb, wave shaping, pitch bend, layer it with more of it, make harmonies, etc, and use some kind of resulting sound as the carrier, while the modulator has to also be made of the same sample

but sure, you could use the vocoder

no recording your voice or using a different carrier/modulator than something made out of an 808 tho

right?

Considering how many people entered the 2 main competitions last 2 months I doubt you'll get 2 hours worth of tunes. But we'll see what happens.

I meant using 808 based synth as a carrier for any vocal input. The other stuff is impossible to create a tune without haha.

I know, it's a just in case thing. I don't want anybody freakig out if they ind their entry has been compromised.

so no vocals or otherwise tracking, generating, synthesizing sound waves, period.

Yeah, the 808 should be the only sound source in your track.

It would be if you used it as a carrier lol, that's why I asked. The issue is using other audio to modulate.

modulators are still sound sources

sure you should be able to use any sound you make from the 808 as the modulator too? you dont just have to use the sample in its original form, but you shouldnt be able to just take a new sample and use it as the modulator

So no vocoders.

yes vocoders
no carriers or modulators that aren't made solely from an 808

I'm on this. Started last night in fact!

I think a month is a good time period for the comp. No pressure. Don't end up rushing and making something you're not completely into...

This mix is absolutely beauty! I can barely believe all this is done with just one sample.. I have to try this! Although I seriously doubt that I can do this

edit: can I up the track and give it out for free before the end of the comp? is that cool?
