Yes, a ballad covered by Miles Davis.. To clarify, what I did was take sections of the song, and put my own original beats on top of those sequenced samples… the track itself is in the public domain now, it's one of the few by Miles that is, actually... &, well, tbh, it’s probably not for everyone, but sounds like it made a few people happy, so I’m glad I posted it… in the future, though, is this something people definitely do NOT want me to post here?

Thanks for the feedback everyone :)

It’s from 1955, a time when big band & swing were definitely on the decline; but jazz music, overall, was still very interesting!
I also had a bit of a chuckle on your blog about this line.

First of all Round Midnight is a ballad. No, this is not a big band, this is a Quintet. Also one of the most swinging quintets ever. The band keeps a lot of space open for Miles' solo since this is a slow ballad and Miles often liked to have some space but then the rhythm section of Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones and Red Garland kick it up a notch before John Coltrane begins his solo. It is def swinging, but once again, this is a ballad.

yep, I agree, it's not swingin, as stated it's from a time when jazz was fallin out of the big band/swing period. Some will disagree, but I think the 50s was one of the best times for jazz. 50s and 60s, but maybe that's just my opinion.

rayman - my bad for posting in the wrong place.

 No, I was actually disagreeing with you there and was saying you can really hear the swing when Coltrane takes his solo.

I agree with you on this.

Do your thing man. I just didn't find anything of use in it, but you stated in your op that peeps might not like it, so fair play.

No, it's not a beat tape. It's all 5 second loops.

cuz some people have found it useful.

damn, people on here get pretty angry about something as simple as a sample pack.. ah well, ima keep doing what im doing, not gonna let some angry posters get me down.

kinda funny... one person walks into the room, says, "hey guys, i got samples if ya want, might not be your thing, but... if you DO want em, they're free.. have at?"

...half the crowd look at that person, and yell, "what? how ddaaaarre you? you OWE us better than this!"

lol. ok... ;-) re-initiate DSF sarcasm and anger in 5..... 4.....3....2....................

hell yea.
i was really into 90s hip hop backin the day, too. When napster came out, i used to download rap instrumentals and blast em until my parents opened the basement door and said, "Your music is too loud, and we need to make a phone call, can you get off the internet now??" hahaha

StrangeFlow I don't get your sample pack tbh, and here is why... Electonic music producers want samples that are the most useful to them, they want them to be raw, and they want they to be moldable. Most of us aren't going to sample a amen from another tune when its got a reese, etc going on. We want a clean amen that we can chop, effect, and add are own bass etc to. Now most of us ain't going to want Miles Davis sample with your drums under, because we want to add are own drums to them, and do our own thing. I'm not saying that your thing is bad, just that it's getting in the way of us doing our thang. U dig?

Now I do like the way that you included the original track, because some kids are going to download these, thinking cool some new samples, and they ain't going to know who Miles is. So they will listen to the track, and some of them will dig it, and start getting in to Miles/jazz, and that can only be a good thing imo.

I don't think I've ever been so underwhelmed with a thread, not with a title like that anyway.

In an effort to improve this thread, and with a nod to the kind of Jazzy stuff I'd like to be hearing from electronic producers, here's some Skalpel.
