Yeah, because executing the ideas in your head is always a bad idea

what I'm say more so is don't go in with like fucking outline of everything you want in it, for me thats when things loose "soul"
This is electronic music, it has no soul either way

I don't, but I am at the stage in my song where all I got is this drop. I want to add more instruments and stuff, but I can't sense I don't have a feel for what the song is even about. I don't know what to do with this, like three months of work and I can't finish it.

Maybe it's just one of many tracks, with the purpose of developing your skill as a producer. Just keep making loads of tracks!

Unplug your internet and lock yourself in your studio until you finish a new section of music.
btw that's 3 months of work?!? What have you been doing?

Learning on my own, and being bad at producing.

Yeah but you can be bad and still finish tracks. Do you literally just rewrite that drop twice a day?

I have finished tracks, but I want to make a really good one cause I want to make an ep. I usually just sit and experiment for like 10 minutes most of the time , taking little steps. but
I do occasionally do long ass sessions that end up having bad affects.

making an ep if your unsigned is pointless imo...just crank out as many tunes as you can.

I'd also add that trying to make one cohesive body of work when you're inexperienced is a bad idea. Aside from the fact that you'll likely end up with a collection of disjointed singles, if you're at that early point where you're progressing in your engineering skills, the actual sound of the tracks will be inconsistent.

Well, I am using the same synth in my other song(sounds differnt though because of defferent fx) so I don't see that as a problem.

So, what do remixes/bootlegs have to do with you being creative? They are mostly of video game themes and shitty pop songs anyway...
All forms of expression and all expressions are valid and/or authentic, but not all expressions are art.

That any Idea I could ever think of has already been done or is just dumb.

Yea...you'll have to get over that...unless you are going to make truly experimental music...
I didn't really read the rest of the thread...just scanned it to see if anyone responded to the remix part...but do you only try to make dubstep? I know it gets said on DSF all the time...but try making stuff that is really, really far out of your comfort zone. Try playing/recording an instrument or get a really limited piece of hardware and get as much mileage out of it as you can.
To me my DAW is a blackhole that sucks the creativity out of my mind because of all the possibilities. I think it's easier to write a tune when I have to create a way to make the sound I want from a limited set of options than choose from a 100 different ways to do it and get lost in all that possibility.

Okay, this is sick okay, it kinda reminds me of Kode9 tbh. But maybe you could add a flute tbh? Make the bass more wooden.
