I tend to roll off as the majority have mentioned using a low cut around 40 or 50 hz region. I haven't actually tried using a low shelf though. I tend to notice that house carries weightier kicks to it than both dubstep and dnb. I'd assume that the use of long sustained bass notes in both DnB and Dubstep would be part of the factor as well as the increased speed compared to house.
