he's a dick, his album titles are shit, his tattoos are gay, his sense of fashion is fucked, but i've always respected the man because he's intelligent and can produce a damn good tune. Reading his Rolling Stone article, yeah he's a tnuc to the point where it's almost delusional, i don't think he's exactly ignorant, just moody, because he only talks about things that he knows about, and only talks shit about the things he's had proper experience with.
i think he's a high school nerd who hated the world and is now getting back at it by producing club bangers and flying in his private jet

just read this on my fb feed, thought i'd share:
As somebody who used to carry 100-odd records, drum machines and an extra deck on public transport to free parties in Liverpool, I find this notion of ‘minimal work, maximum profit’ baffling and offensive. If anything, this guy should be grateful that his music is being backed by a big-money industry: he could be using it as a platform to make something creative and artistic. But instead he takes the opportunity to wish the downfall of all electronic music: most of which, it seems, he doesn’t even understand.
People dedicate their lives to making and releasing electronic music for minimal profit – around part-time or full-time jobs – for that tiny percent of people who will understand and appreciate it for what it is. It is all for the love of the music.
And yes: the washing machine is more convenient than a rock, but playing music in a club shouldn’t be about convenience, it should be about creating something special, whatever equipment somebody uses. It is not just about ‘stringing some tunes together’.
Ultimately, this guy needs to think about what example he is setting to a whole generation of young music fans. He should be encouraging kids to make an effort, not to rely on lazy convenience.

Anyway the guy is a grade A tnuc but he does talk sense very now and then. From what I checked out, his most recent album is as "good" at-least as his much older stuff anyway.

not quite my definition of being smart. just because you're not a complete retard you're not automatically a smart guy. i still think he's got a very naive and narrow minded view on things and takes himself a little too serious.

just kind of visible proof that industry and business can take the things i love about art, then cheapen, dehumanise and simplify them to the point that they seem horrible and nasty little "products" to me, and for some reason get away with selling it to way more people and actually making a profit
which i think is some kind of horrible shame and doesn't paint a good picture of mainstream people to me but i do also respect there's some level of genius behind it
i'm sure plenty of people genuinely love his music even if i don't, and fair enough really
ehhhh
