Kicks are an underrated artform, mayne. Hardcore gets waay too much hate. A lot of that shit has a ridiculously high production value o.o

really cheap ghettotech if its well done can engage me much much more than hypercomplex sound design bassline shit with way too loud drums, too much bass, sizzling highs and no dynamics whatsoever

in that respect you're absolutely right of course.
i think hardcore kicks are somewhat similar to reeses/midrange basslines, they're very easy to overdo. getting the balance between sick-factor and actual quality right is what most people struggle with without even knowing it.

Oh, alright. From the way you said it just sounded like hardcore shouldn't get hate from ordinary listeners because it has a high production value.
