Gravehill wrote:Theres a reason that pro producers like skrillex and big choclates use fm8 and not massive. massive is good for when you are first starting out and you need some cracked synth (fm8 is impossible to crack because of the complex routing engine) but when you get better you want to upgrade to fm8. when you send your track to a professional for master if you have 3 db of headroom the transients in massive gets squashed and clipped whereas the transients in fm8 retain an analog and warm sound fm8 has an fm mastering transient-retention engine and upgraded analog sound engine with tubes inside the synth. this is how skrillex was able to invent dubstep and DnB. if you listen to my name is skrillex ep it sounds like dogs baloney because he was using massive still because he was poor but then he got money and bought fm8 and made scary monsters listen to it you can tell the fm routing right away in the sounds
This is the worst post I've ever read, pretty much all complete and utter bollocks. Bravo

 yes especially since every image-line plugin is $45 at the moment.
OP just buy sytrus, its as high quality as fm8 and its dirt cheap for the next week or so.
Love sytrus, prefer it over fm8, although I like FM8's design more.

Was gravehill serious??? Damn son, you're wrong on so many levels.

As for buying FM8, I already have it, was just wondering whether I should dig into it's roots. And I decided I will.
As for mastering one or the other, I think I can work on both without losing myself

u cant make wobble bass with massive anymore tbh as theres no more good tutorials,

in order 2 wobble the best u need FM8 , F stands for the F osciltor where the sound come out and m stands for music because thats what you make with it,

and gravehill ur wrong fm8 can be hacked my friend is taking a computer science class at his school and he is learning how to hack things and he says that he is going to be able to hack fm8 in a week or so hes getting closer so ur wrong

Lol what the fuck...

Anyways, I'm about to dive into FM8 wish me luck. After listening to Kill the Noise, I want to make so whacky-ass sounds that no one else uses. I've been using massive up to this point and it's a good synth.

I am guessing that the guttural-ness of his noises aren't directly related to FM synthesis. The FM provides the base tones, but I feel that most of the wackiness is coming from filtering/eq modulation.

Not sure if you guys are trolling, but KTN's basses are mostly Modern talking and filtering, distortion and some compression

that is seriously your answer to just about every synthesis question in regards to midrange stuff.
