The first part is without any reverb, next is with reverb.
Large difference.
Referencing skrillex, on a serious note. Ballsy move.
Reverb creates an atmosphere that harmonically corresponds to the song.

Doesn't it all depend on the sound your adding the effect to? Seems kinda dumb to use the same setting on every sound. because of the different frequencies sounds have and the way the sounds are used

But generally i will have one long hall, one medium room and one short plate. Thats pretty much all i need
and a spring. short plate might get some chorus as well.

I used to be like this.
Then about a year ago I started buying issues of magazines like
Sound on Sound &
MusicTechFocus if they had a big article on Verbs, & actually studied the articles… Got better, then 6 months ago I just buckled down, opened the manual to a verb I’d just bought (2cAudio Breeze) worked though it with my DAW, trying various things specifically to understand how *it* worked, which led to an overal better understanding of verbs in general.
There are no shortcuts. Reverb is deep, and will take time. You never stop learning. But open your manual, and dig in during downtime & experiment. Don’t just wait till you need Verb on something and flip through presets for your entire career/hobby.
Here’s my notes on Pre-Delay:
Use it!
