i dig some of ooo's productions, and the guitar in that tune isn't so far off, but it's still not quite what i'm after. i guess the sound im hearing in my head embodies more repetition and droney blissful drift -- again, the closest example i can find is that hyetal tune i posted above. i think the chord progression has more to do with it than anything. also stuff like this:

You have acts like Demdike Stare that really catch the drone segment, but then they aren't quite as melodic and usually more eerie/haunting. Tim Hecker is good but then he's not very dubstep, in fact he rarely ever uses beats.
And Jesu related: A recent re-issue by final has some relevant tracks, but again not dubstep-minded.
Or the blood of heroes first album. This track does have some vague breakstep references.

definitely.
and thanks everyone for helping out to try and fill my assholic elitist musical request some good recommendations joeki. Hourglass Sea is another artist that comes to mind that has the gazer vibe i'm kinda looking for - especially the song Divine Sealing (which also sounds a bit like Glass Swords and that's not a bad thing). It's not on youtube, but I found a link if you haven't heard already. Such a massive tune, this one:
yeah, bvdub making more beat induced tunes these days (d&b, deep house dubtechno). Don't Say You Know / Serenity are good.

Not to be that guy, but check out some of my stuff. It's not always dubstep, but it's got a lot of shoegaze influence. Kid Smpl might be something close to what you're looking for too.

Chillstep is just a shitty tag, like fucking metalstep or techstep or any of those other made up words that people throw at music to make it sound special. It's not even all bad, so much of it just sounds exactly the same.
That being said, Sorrow and Essay are both pretty good and worth checking out.

yo hudson, actually just got your dream sequence ep yesterday. nice stuff! i've heard some sorrow but ill check out the others you suggested. there's definitely fair bit of the ambient/chill stuff i enjoy, i just haven't been able to find much that explicitly gives me the kinda shoegaze vibes i'm after.
