You probably don't wanna hear it but buy a new pc... I got one for $700 CND and its a beast. 16 gigs of ram, I can throw on all the effects I want and never have to worry about having to bounce down to save cpu, even when I have firefox and itunes and ableton open all at the same time.

You can group all of the synths/basses/anything you want to sidechain together by highlighting the tracks and hitting Cmd+G or Ctrl+G (depending on your computer) and then just use 1 compressor for all of the sounds.

i like to use different amounts of compression for each instrument.
