Would Cubase 6 or 7 be any good as a blank platform for adding in sequencers, synths, samples etc? I know how to do pretty much everything analogue and I used to use Ableton but it pissed me off because it's got a specific workflow that doesn't do everything I want to.
I like to have a lot of options for workflow so I can make a few things do a lot and have good fine control over it... like just processing the wet output of a delay without fucking with the dry sound (e.g. different reverb settings, even the same settings but with the delay'd one on mono with the dry on stereo etc)

As I initially said, I already have Cubase 7 and am familiar with it as I use it a lot for scoring and mastering guitar-based music. I also used to be a proficient Reason user and love the inclusiveness feel of the back panel wiring etc and being able to personalise wiring etc.
I also have a few synths, like Omnisphere and Zebra (used for scoring film type music along with orchestral music) but am looking to start producing some dubstep music. I've now invested in Reason 6.5 and with that and Cubase 7 will be set on pro producing, rather than the one click wonders like D**T***o (which I refuse to even name).

Okay, just watched this video on aux sends in Cubase
Is there any way of processing just the effect rather than the whole channel? E.g. I like to put phaser on delays, not the original signal at all, just modifying the delay.
Is this possible in any DAWs? It is with hardware because you can physically route the output from the effect separately from the aux signal.

Yes of course thats a good set up , but as anyone else would say it come to preference. I use reason 6.5 myself and I love it. And cubase is a great program. I've been wanting cubase for a while , probably will end up getting it one day. I'm using reaper for now and rewiring reason or just bouncing into reaper for post production. So yeah man rock it Reason 6.5 is awesome! Cheers!
