Made for the studio.
Very good translation across multiple reference systems.
As comfy as it gets.
What reviews are you reading that refers to them as nice and bassy?
Go read a real comparitive review over at headfi.
Nothing but positives.

If you're still unsure take a listen to the tunes in my sc.
I only produce with Dt990.

My DT990s just came in the mail today, and everything sounds so crisp where it needs to be crisp, and so clear. Well worth the $200 I paid for them.

Also shopping around for some new monitor headphones - wish I could get the beyerdynamics but I produce on a 30 quid computer so I'm not gonna shell out that much on headphones.

My Question - I'm struggling to mix my sub due to not being able to hear it (on my creative PC speakers... And what?) , rest of the mix seems fine really. So, if i where to get some headphones that have boost bass will this help me when mixing my bass and kicks. Will I still be able to hear the problems, but louder?

idrk if this is a great idea, but if you're on FL or another DAW with a plug-in like BassBoost, just layer that on until you can hear the subbass, just LP, just a teeny tiny bit of some tube distortion, LP again, and take off the layers of BassBoost (or cousin plug-in). Then just look at how loud the sub is on the mixer, just make sure it doesn't peak any higher than anything important. That's what I would do if were having that problem, but I haven't, so I'm just giving an idea that seems like it'll work.

I own some AKG 271 mkii and I can say their good ! Krk's are bullshit I think....(like their monitors)

Ive heard great things about the Dt990s and the DT880s.
Anyone able to shed some light on how do these headphones compare?

Not entirely sure about the 880's, but I have the DT990 Pro's, and they are monsters. Clear as can be, and aren't harsh on the ears at all.

Comparing these is a bit tricky.
2 different phones.
Dt990 open backed phones, larger sound stage.
Dt880 semi open, more suited for tracking.

(i know neither of these are the ones in question)
I have DT880 Pros and AKG K530s, absolutely no comparison between the 2.
the 880s are clear and 'clear', comfortable and not at all fatiguing. you still need monitors really to hear and feel how much air is getting moved and how the sound reacts out in the open, but if you were in an apartment or had no monitors the 880s are as close as you need to get (except for the 990s of course! couldn't quite afford them if I remember).
the AKGs are quite hollow and plasticy sounding compared. very clear and 'nice' but I would never use them for EQ'ing or anything, just for general arranging etc.

I personally swear by Sennheiser headphones.
Very clear with good frequency range.

Not for sheer amounts of volume but if you want a clear point of view on what's going on in your tracks, look no further.
