It's not "censorship" for someone with an opposing view to be present in a debate, Alex. Shouting over your opponent doesn't liberate your opinion, it just makes you look like a self-aggrandising dick with cloth ears.
This is his main problem. He also has the habbit of any time he tackles an issue worth looking at or makes any kind of reasonable point (speaking generally here) he spoils it but make wild sensationalist statements that can't really be grounded in reality.

Couple that with his viral video exposure by doing stupid shit like this whilst slipping the name of his surely financially successful website and I can't help but think he's either out for cash, has a messiah complex or is just an idiot who can't realise how to take a sensible look or debate properly any thing he covers.

I have to agree, It's a shame the majority of people I agree with to a large extent that are labelled as "conspiracy theorists" don't know how to articulate themselves in a fashion that would add credence to their words...I certainly on the rare occasions I get into a debate with a daily mail reader (or on one occasion believe it or not at a bbq a sun journalist) be sure to conduct myself in the best possible way...maybe the way people like Alex Jones behave actually works for them though and gets them more notice which I guess is what they want.

But yeah I actually agree with pretty much everything he says but that's what makes it difficult to watch at times as holding those views aligns yourself with people that can be perceived as a big mouth and not able to listen, Icke does come across a lot better...on his recent wogan interview he did very very well...was also impressed wogan apologized for how he treated him last time round and that in itself is interesting in that it brings into play the genius/insanity argument (where the difference is just measured by success)

Alex Jones should change his approach I think, maybe in America this approach is more successful but over here even "crazy" people like me can potentially be put off what he is saying.

His interview doug stanhope(stand up comedian) is priceless. Doug does this bit about an average person's life and out of the blue Alex Jones start's talking about MOON base's. The guy is con artist .

It's around the 15 min mark

Yeah I don't think that's a coincidence mate.

I don't think it proves anything per se...

I know many people IRL that agree with the core beliefs I hold and know how to articulate themselves very well indeed...

What do you think it means then?

I certainly know how to articulate my views without shouting...I last did that when arguing with my parents as a teenager

I think you might disagree with me on this, but I don't think he actually cares that much about whether he's taken seriously; just whether people watch/listen. Like the Daily Mail posting overly-sensationalist or even offensive articles to get viral hits on the web, I have a feeling Jones seeks to cause a scene so that it's not just the people looking to "learn" from him listening/clicking (and therefore contributing to his ad revenues), it's people simply looking for a bit of entertainment. Unfortunately, their entertainment is never at his expense as they'd hope; only his profit.

I'm not sure what Andrew Neil or his team thought was going to happen tbh... Aaronovitch has been hounding these people for years without a single meaningful conversation being had and I imagine he's not got the patience to have one anyway by now; any time he's brought up a counter-idea, written an article or published a book he's been called an "agent", "sheeple" or an idiot... it's wonderfully ironic that the people who shout the loudest for others to "question everything" are so reluctant to allow their own teachings to be questioned or interrogated; for some reason questioning these ideas is seen as being closed minded. Rather telling actually...

Well I suppose you could argue that being as open as it takes to listen to those controversial ideas that arguing against them with very conservative and dismissive points is a fashion in which people can be classed as narrow minded regardless of your views of right and wrong it is more open minded to be open to "conspiracy theories"

Regardless I always believe in letting people speak providing the situation is weighed evenly and not in someone else's favour...

Andrew does make it pretty clear that he believes what Alex Jones says is nonsense on a few occasions and tbh that's not his job as he is the host and unless it is just a one to one thing he should try to be impartial...

Yeah, I don't think Andrew Neil did a very good job of handling the situation at all. He should've maintained professionalism given Jones all the hangman's rope he was after... a lot of people will watch and think Alex did a great job standing up for himself tbh.

As it stands all three of them failed pretty spectacularly at having a conversation.

@Chekov

Firstly I would say lumping anyone with an alternative point of view into this box is shortsighted and secondly I would say IF and just IF someone is correct and nobody is listening as undoubtedly has happened through history they might feel the need to talk over others...

but then maybe that's why people aren't listening but tbf people listen to people like Alex Jones more than the more articulate and respectful of others in a debate type people...

And that is why you have only heard of the people that talk over others and shout the loudest too

ye people like him definitely don't help anything

i think for me it's the eagerness with which people seem to try and find conspiracies behind everything and assume there's a dark force of super-secret shit we'll never know about. but then again, i lean towards anarchism and there's the same kind of kneejerk anti-capitalist mindset there but i guess with that the ideas don't go much beyond an elite of states/corporations working to line their own pockets and keep their power

so i duno. i'm probably just a bit too thick/hypocritical/lazy really
