Awesome idea. Big up Hector and The Pi (good producer name right there)

To me, WAV would be less important than hearing the sound prior to rendering. If you could set up a live audio feed so the client can hear the synth in real-time that'd be more useful IMO than lossless files. I'm fine with sampling MP3s. Not so good with waiting for a render.

I'm the one behind analogalacarte.com. Nice to see the project appearing in this forum. Regarding why I used MP3, you guys guessed it. The MP3 file is several times smaller than a WAV file, and since I'm not making any money on this project I'm not sure I can justify the bandwidth and storage to use WAV files. Just a question though, how much more likely to use this system would you be if you had the option of getting the WAV file?
Also, I'm having the Raspberry-pi do the encoding as well, it is quite an impressive little computer!
I have some other improvements planned for the system too, so we'll see where this all ends up.
Cheers,
Hector
Props!
In direct answer to your question, yes - I would definitely use .WAV files, even plain ol' 16 bit/44.1kHZ. I'm less concerned about realtime playback/previewing, but the stuff about other controls being accessible is definitely interesting.
Honestly, I could see this developing into a business of its own... give limited abilities for free, extended controls for a small fee...

how about keep the mp3 files free, but a small charge for people wanting wavs (to cover some costs)
Cool idea, definately going to check this out when im home from work.
Edit. Just realised thats pretty much what alphacat said haha, sorry for snaking.
